These hardwood cubes feature different spellings (graphemes) for individual, identifiable sounds of English speech. For example, the cube for the sound /ai/ features ai, ay, a, ey, eigh and ea. The set also contains uniquely linked cubes for split vowel digraphs (a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e, u-e including the use of ‘i' in words such as ‘making'). Cubes displaying capital letters, for shape/sound recognition and matching with lower case, and basic punctuation are also included.
